Congratulations 2026 Awardees
On Friday, April 10, 2026, Commissionaires and invited guests came together at the Annual Awards Banquet at the Courtyard by Marriott Edmonton West to recognize the efforts of their colleagues for their Long Service Award and share this special occasion. Below is a list of this year’s Commissionaire Long Service Awardees as well as the 2025 Employee of the Year. We are grateful for all who attended the event and invite you to congratulate your fellow commissionaires on their long service and commitment to the Corps.
2025 Employee of the Year
Carey Deschamps
Cmre Deschamps has exemplified professionalism, leadership, and dedication since joining the Corps in November 2016. From his very first shift, he distinguished himself through his focus, reliability, and natural ability to lead.
In April 2018, he was selected to assume the role of Detachment Commander at CFB Edmonton. He transitioned seamlessly into this position, ensuring uninterrupted operations while quickly establishing strong, respectful relationships with both his team and client partners. Under his leadership, a culture of professionalism, cohesion, and mutual respect has consistently thrived.
His commitment to both mission success and the wellbeing of his personnel is unwavering. In May 2024, he was recognized as Employee of the Month after taking decisive and compassionate action to assist a colleague experiencing a serious medical emergency – an intervention that likely saved a life. In 2025, he was named Employee of the Year, a testament to his outstanding leadership and dedication in managing an increasingly complex and demanding operation.
Over the past year, Cmre Deschamps has led a workforce of approximately 50 Commissionaires across 13 diverse and geographically dispersed sites, many requiring continuous 24/7 coverage. Despite the scale and complexity, he has ensured seamless operations through exceptional organization, adaptability, and foresight.
What truly distinguishes Cmre Deschamps is his genuine care for his people. He leads with integrity, holds high standards, and fosters an environment where every team member feels valued and supported. Whether resolving complex challenges, mentoring staff, or personally checking in on overnight personnel during his own time, his leadership is both visible and deeply felt.
He has also demonstrated remarkable initiative by strengthening communication between his detachment and Headquarters, improving efficiency and allowing his team to remain focused on their critical duties. His ability to unite a diverse workforce into cohesive, high-performing teams speaks to the strength of his leadership.
Beyond his professional achievements, Cmre Deschamps is equally committed to his community. Through volunteer work supporting charitable initiatives, youth programs, and public astronomy outreach, he continues to make a meaningful impact beyond the workplace.
Cmre Deschamps embodies the highest standards of service, leadership, and compassion. He is an exceptional supervisor, a respected leader, and an invaluable asset to the Corps. It is with great respect that he is recognized as Employee of the Year.
