Beginning with site assessments and threat analysis by Certified Protection Professionals we work with our clients to determine the right size of guard force and appropriate security technologies to deliver quality protection at an affordable cost. Our commissionaires are trained to Canadian Government Standards Board standards for security professionals and led by supervisors and managers selected for their combination of experience and advanced training. The discipline and commitment of our teams ensures our clients’ needs are looked after all day, everyday.

The Commissionaires is a not-for-profit entity and 96% of our billing rate is returned to our employees. We pay higher than average wages, while recruiting and maintaining exceptional qualifications. In December 2004, the Commissionaires received a Certificate of Recognition (COR) from Alberta Construction Safety Association which has brought down our Workers Compensation Board (WCB) premiums, in turn allowing the Commissionaires to reduce its administration costs to the client. Our voluntary Board of Governors does not expect a return on investment, but instead request that we provide meaningful employment and a decent living to our 1700 employees. Since 1986, the Commissionaires have been committed to employment equity and participate in the Federal Contractors Program for Employment Equity. In the nine years since obtaining ISO 9001:2000 certification, we have established policies and procedures to ensure a quality management system.

The Commissionaires is a stable organization as demonstrated in our below industry turnover rate average. This is a direct result of the Commissionaires paying above industry average wages and the employee incentive that are offered including a Member’s welfare and benefit plan. We provide our people with health and dental benefits, full training at our cost, and full uniform(s) to maintain a professional image every shift. The Commissionaires conduct full background checks on all employees including CPIC’s, and clearance to minimum enhanced reliability status. Although the Commissionaires are exempt from the Albert a Private Investigators and Security Guards Act, in an attempt to be pro-active, we obtained licensing in May 2002.
