Commissionaires Qualifying Course (CQC)
This five day classroom course is based upon the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) for Security Guards.

We utilize a variety of Headquarters staff whose experience and expertise enhances the quality of instruction. Students receive excellent instruction based on current material.
Throughout the course the students are given daily progress checks/evaluations, these they can use for study aids for the final exam. The final exam is administered in the following areas:
Practical Exam - This consists of the students performing a security patrol. Upon completion, they are questioned on what they saw/observed. They are also given a variety of scenario based problems to which the student must explain along with their reasoning how they would approach and solve each problem.
Written Exam - Students are administered a comprehensive written exam. The written exam includes multiple choice, true & false and short answer questions.
Up successful completion of the course each student receives a course evaluation from the Training Team which is kept on file at Corps HQ. The Training Team then uses the student's course evaluations to improve for the next course.
First Aid

All levels of First Aid from Emergency First Aid with Level "A" CPR, up to Standard First Aid with Level "C" CPR. The First Aid course in mandatory for ALL Commissionaires and is also available/offered to clients.
Note Taking & Report Writing
This is a one-day stand-alone classroom course instructing our Commissionaires on how and when to take proper notes, after which they are taught how to write an accurate report using their notes. This course can also be taught on-site and as part of an On Job Training (OJT) package.
Tactical Communications
This one day course focuses on the ability to defuse confrontations verbally, along with the use of body language (both reading a person as well as using our own). This is an excellent communications tool.
TalkTechniques - The Art of First Response
This course is designed to equip students with the mental attitude and communication techniques necessary to initially engage with a difficult individual and create opportunities for them to cooperate.
TalkTechniques - The Art of Positive Interaction
The purpose of effective communication is to share information, educate, motivate, guide, reassure, enforce, negotiate, make decisions, promote ideas, build relationships, manage or supervise people, solve problems, and formulate action based on information received through effective professional interaction.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
On some sites/contracts our Commissionaires have to deal with, take delivery of or in some cases transport dangerous goods as part of their jobs. This Alberta Government Certified full day course is taught to our Commissionaires and others with the use of our own training team.
Construction Safety Training System (CSTS)
This is an "ACSA" (Alberta Construction Safety Association) course taught with a combination of instructor and computer based self-study. Held in our training centre the student is taught Construction Site Safety and Generic WHMIS. This Alberta Construction Association Certified Course is required to work on any construction site and as a client specified requirement. We currently have our own CSTS qualified instructors.
Defensive Driving Course (DDC)
This course is supplied to our Commissionaires who are driving as part of their job and at client request. We currently contract out for this course through the Alberta Motor Association (AMA).
Basic & Intermediate Computer Skills
We teach basic and intermediate computer skills for programs such as those in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs. MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook are the most common used in the day-to-day operational duties amongst of Commissionaires.
Fire Safety
On this half day course, we teach basic fire safety and proper use of fire fighting equipment. This is taught in the classroom or on site as required.
Shift Leaders Course
The Shift Leaders Course is a Canadian Corps of Commissionaires Nationally Sponsored Certified Course instructed to National Standards. This course is the first level of instruction for Commissionaires currently in a Supervisory role. It is conducted through a combination of home study and classroom for a duration of five days with a comprehensive final written exam. This course is also given prior to Commissionaires attending the Nationally Instructed Supervisors Course.
Commissionaires Supervisor Course
The Commissionaires Supervisor Course is provided to selected candidates from all areas of Canada with the occupational and behavioral skills and attitudes to function as supervisors within the Corps. This course is conducted under the authority of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires National Office and consists of eight days of instruction. The course standard is taken from the National Standard of Canada CAN/CGSB-133.1-99 Security Guard and Security Guard Supervisor, with additional requirements to meet the Corps standards.
