Board of Governors
A wealth of experience
As a not-for-profit company the Division is overseen by a volunteer Board of Governors. These Governors, who receive no remuneration, bring a wealth of senior military, police and executive experience to the Board.
Major (Retired) Greg Findlay, BComm, CD
Greg is an Executive Director with Alberta’s Ministry of Treasury Board and Finance. He served for over 20 years as a Logistics Officer in the Canadian Army, including command and staff appointments. He has extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of finance and personnel administration.
Gerry Gabinet, BComm, CED
Gerry is the Director of Economic Development and Tourism for Strathcona County, and has an extensive background in marketing at the Municipal, Provincial and International levels. He is past president of Greater Edmonton Economic Development Team, Pacific Northwest Economic Development Committee and on the Board of Directors for Economic Development Alberta.
Patrick Adams, MBA, M.E.DES. (Architecture)
Patrick is a developer and builder of residential and commercial real estate. Pat has served the Community as Chairman of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, President of the Strathcona Rotary Club, President of the Canadian Home Builders Association Edmonton Region and as Treasurer for the Canadian Home Builders Association – Alberta. Pat served a tour of duty with the Royal Canadian Navy.
Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Don Brodie. OMM, CD
Don gained extensive command and staff experience throughout Canada and abroad. Since retiring from the Canadian Forces, he has held executive positions in both industry and not-for-profits, including the Commissionaires.
Michelle Gallagher, CD, BSN, MA, MBA, LLB
Michelle is a lawyer with Patriot Law. She has appeared before all levels of Court in Alberta. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Michelle served as both a Nursing Officer and Armour Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. She is actively involved in her local community and sits on the boards of a number of other organizations including the Legal Education Society of Alberta, West Parkland Gas Co-op Ltd. and her local Chamber of Commerce.
Erwin Kilotat, MEng
Erwin is a former Military Engineer with widespread knowledge in Federal Environmental and Energy management positions. Since retirement, he has devoted himself to teaching ESL and assisting immigrants in their transition to Canadian society.
Geoff Kliza, BEng, MBA
Geoff is the president of Elements Digital Studio Inc. He has extensive experience in IT project management and technical services. Geoff is also a former Communications and Electronics Engineering Officer with the Canadian Forces.
RCMP Chief Superintendent (Retired) Brian Roberts
Brian is presently the Executive Director for the Office of Strategy Management Division for the Edmonton Police Service. As a former law enforcement executive, he has melded broad operational and administrative police experience with senior managerial skills.
HLCol Solomon J. Rolingher, KStJ, QC
Sol is senior counsel at Duncan Craig LLP with extensive corporate board and governance experience. Amongst others, he chairs the Boards of Governors of the TWoSE Science Centre, the Citadel Theatre, the Lieutenant Governor’s Circle on Mental Health & Addiction, is a past board member of the U of A, the CHA, past Chair of the River Valley Alliance and St. John Ambulance Alberta.
Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Brad Wells, CD
Brad is currently the Executive Director Financial Services and Senior Financial Officer for the Alberta Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General. During his previous 25 year career with the Canadian Armed Forces as an Army Finance and Logistics Officer he held various appointments across Canada as well as other foreign postings and operational deployments including Afghanistan.
Gord Winkel, P.Eng., MSc
A former Vice President of Syncrude Canada Ltd., Gord is currently the Chair and Industrial Professor for the Safety and Risk Management Program in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta. He has held numerous senior business and board positions and brings a wealth of safety related background to Commissionaires.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) John Slater, MBA, CPHR, CD, MSM
Prior to joining the Commissionaires, John was the Executive Director of The Military Museums in Calgary. His nearly 32 years with the Canadian Forces included command and staff appointments throughout Canada and overseas. John is the Past Chair of the Northern Alberta Chapter of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS).
